Report of Surf Camp 2020
Socal Surf Camp Held in early August
August 4-6 in El Segundo, CA
Report by Susan Felsenthal Janer
El Segundo was the location of this year’s SURF CAMP on August 4, 5, and 6th.
This was the 15th year since starting in San Diego in 2005. Our participants came from the Los Angeles area and as far away as the Bay Area and Las Vegas. We had 30 people this year.
We started each day with a reading from True Father’s words. He taught us about the abundant possibilities that the ocean can offer, like food, oil, and many other natural resources. He taught about the beauty of the ocean with its many moods and colors.
We camped for two nights at Dockweiller State Park in an RV and a pop up rolling camper that had 6 beds in it. Very comfortable!
The second day was fishing on Captain Jacks Boat and sailing on Captain Dan’s sailboat. While half the group was on the boats the other half was on the beach surfing. Our evening meal was at Captain Jack’s home. Mrs. Myung Ja Ashworth made the best curry rice for our dinner. She prepared a few of our meals for this year’s Camp. Thank you Aunt MyungJa.
Quote from Captain Jack Ashworth: “We can love God by loving the Ocean”.
